چکیده

Abstract. Using data collected by the Hyperspectral Imager for Coastal Ocean (HICO) on International Space Station between 2010–2014, hyperspectral reflectance spectra of various floating matters in global oceans and lakes are derived spectral range 400–800 nm. Specifically, entire HICO archive 9411 scenes is first visually inspected to identify suspicious image slicks. Then, a nearest-neighbor atmospheric correction used derive surface slick pixels. Finally, unmixing scheme matters. Analysis shapes these (macroalgae, microalgae, organic particles, whitecaps) through use angle mapper (SAM) index indicates that they can mostly be distinguished from each other without need ancillary information. Such consistent 90 m resolution observations expected provide endmembers differentiate quantify existing multi-band satellite sensors future missions such as NASA's Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) mission; Geosynchronous Littoral Imaging Monitoring Radiometer (GLIMR) Surface Biology Geology (SBG) mission. Assessing the Application of Cloud-Shadow Atmospheric Correction Algorithm on HICO

Several ocean color earth observation satellite sensors are presently collecting daily imagery, including the Hyperspectral Imager for the Coastal Ocean (HICO). HICO has been operating aboard the International Space Station since its installation on September 24, 2009. It provides high spatial resolution hyperspectral imagery optimized for the coastal ocean. Atmospheric correction, however, sti...

Improvement of the Classification of Hyperspectral images by Applying a Novel Method for Estimating Reference Reflectance Spectra

Hyperspectral image containing high spectral information has a large number of narrow spectral bands over a continuous spectral range. This allows the identification and recognition of materials and objects based on the comparison of the spectral reflectance of each of them in different wavelengths. Hence, hyperspectral image in the generation of land cover maps can be very efficient. In the hy...

Hyperspectral Biomedical Imager

This paper describes the development of a signal and image processing system for the Hyperspectral Biomedical Imager (HBI). The HBI forms hyperspectral images of human tissue with high spatial and spectral resolution. The final goal of the research project is to develop a fully functional HBI image formation/processing system based on the TMS320C6X. This would permit fast and efficient data pro...

Ocean PHILLS hyperspectral imager: design, characterization, and calibration.

The Ocean Portable Hyperspectral Imager for Low-Light Spectroscopy (Ocean PHILLS) is a hyperspectral imager specifically designed for imaging the coastal ocean. It uses a thinned, backsideilluminated CCD for high sensitivity and an all-reflective spectrograph with a convex grating in an Offner configuration to produce a nearly distortionfree image. The sensor, which was constructed entirely fro...

Application of the Hyperspectral Imager for the Coastal Ocean to Phytoplankton Ecology Studies in Monterey Bay, CA, USA

As a demonstrator for technologies for the next generation of ocean color sensors, the Hyperspectral Imager for the Coastal Ocean (HICO) provides enhanced spatial and spectral resolution that is required to understand optically complex aquatic environments. In this study we apply HICO, along with satellite remote sensing and in situ observations, to studies of phytoplankton ecology in a dynamic...
